Now for a little something unexpected....
While Dr. Dreyfus has many experiences and accolades that I could write about, I wanted to do something a little different on this page. I am Dr. Dreyfus' webmaster, I have been for more years that I can remember. I also help him with marketing. We recently decided to redo his website and I offered to help him with his content. While I know this isn't the norm, I want this page to really show you who Dr. Dreyfus is and what kind of man he is. I don't want to write a well-crafted bio that doesn't truly offer insight into the man. So if you'll forgive this parting from the norm, I'll tell you the truth about who Dr. Dreyfus is.
He is a man that is loyal even when times are trying. He is a man that is intelligent, wise and thoughtful (which you'll sense in a heartbeat when you read any of his books or Blog posts). He is compassionate and caring (as evidenced when I went through personal medical challenges and he was one of my biggest supporters - even though he was "only a client" and had no reason to extend his help and caring). He is a man that doesn't just "talk the talk" - he "walks the walk". As evidenced by the fact that he donates all proceeds from his book to charity. When Dr. Dreyfus first came to me with that idea, I asked why and he explained that he felt we should all contribute to the community we live in and he couldn't very well say that if he didn't do it as well. So in addition to personal contributions he makes, he decided it would be great to sell his books and donate proceeds. With the idea that the books would help the people that buy them and the funds would help the charities, it was an idea that moved and impressed me. He spends his time and money promoting the books with that goal in mind.
He is a man that is so well versed in his area of expertise but above all that, he is a man that cares about his work and understands the important role he plays in many people's lives.
I've worked with many therapists over the years, I've done web design and SEO and marketing. I've been moved and changed by my experiences with Dr. Dreyfus and by reading his wonderful books. I am lucky to call him a client and I'm even luckier to call him a friend.
I'll leave you with a few words, that Dr. Dreyfus shared with me when I asked him what he offers to clients and what he hopes his legacy will be. "What I offer my clients is a safe, collaborative engagement, with a skilled professional who feels privileged to take the journey with his patients or clients to face the unknown within themselves, in order to live a more fulfilling and purposeful life. With my books, I want to make it possible that people can put into action small changes that over time build to significant changes resulting in a happier and more fulfilling life.
While we cannot choose the hand we are dealt, we can choose how we will play that hand. Many people who were born with disabilities or into poverty or suffered tragedies due to accidents or circumstance, have managed to take themselves to the pinnacle of success in the lives. Life is filled with roadblocks; our mission is to figure out a way to go over them, around them, or through them. They are merely challenges for us to overcome. My career has been dedicated to working with individuals (and couples) to embrace the challenge knowing that they are not alone. Personally, I hope that my legacy would be that people remember me for having made a difference in the lives of others, family, friends, clients or patients, and to my community. I would like to be remembered for having lived a life of integrity, where I walked the talk, that I was sincere in my intent and committed in my actions." - Dr. Edward Dreyfus
